What kind of saddle is the one on the left riding?

Does anybody know what model this is? It had the English flap but retained the quarter straps. Would they have had a 1904 model? Anybody know anything about Mexican military saddles? Are the stirrups on your saddle original Joe?

Just received a catalog from Deutsche Optik. They have some reported original US stirrups listed for sale. They are chrome plated however and do have a stock number of 0641107-000-000. Again reported to go back 1944. They are not the knife edge type, Any one aware of this stirrup? Just looks like ...

My first though twas also Belgian, the saddle would fit with that: hat. But the stirrups look like the austro-hungarian type wrapped?

I'm not sure of any military connection with these. I have a pair that came of a work harness. Just thought they were one of the commercial patterns available. The harness was from probably late 40's to 50's. Let me know if you get any other info/Tom.

It's Swiss. The stampings indicate it. You might goggle it being swiss and see what you get. Tom

The U P's that I have seen and the one in my collection does not have the grain type leather or embossed type leather on the flaps. I believe this plane was actually originally a glider that they put engines on and also had jet rocket assist for take off. It is also interesting to note that the saddle in the photos was not the common M25 in that it had 2 addition rings in the cantle. This was suppose ably for carrying a machine gun or an art range finder. The cantle ring saddle was seen less in WW2 but more common with WW1 saddle. Tom
