Piaffer? I too was wondering what was going on here. At first glance it appears that the horse is side stepping, moving obliquely towards the camera with the left diagonal in motion; but the riders attitude/ position indicates that he is moving straight forward and that this is a phase of the walk and the horse is merely looking to the right.
