The latest issue of Military Collector & Historian has some articles that folks here would find quite interesting. They are:
1. The Chicago Black Horse Troop, MUIA Plate 173, Revisited.
Really interesting article about the Chicago Black Horse Troop, with photos, depicting both their field appearance as well as their highly unique ceremonial uniform in the 20th Century.
I wouldn't have guessed a Guard unit would have its own unique mounted dress uniform, but they did.
2. Mayo Memorial to U.S. Navy Man.
An article about a new memorial in Mayo, Ireland, dedicated to the U.S. Navy's two time Medal of Honor winner John King. It's a short article, but it's nice to see him remembered in the town of his birth.
3. The Full Dress Uniform of James Clyman, Second Lieutenant, U.S. Regiment of Dragoons, 1833-1834.
Nice example of a surviving dragoon uniform.
4. The Sons of Auld Reekie. . .
Article on a South Carolina militia unit prior to, and early in, the Civil War that was outfitted like a Highland Scottish unit and which was called The Highland Guard of Charleston, South Carolina. Really odd to ponder.
5. Gabino Ayala: An Interview with a Veteran of the Chaco War, 1932-1935
Speaks for itself.
And probably more as well. I haven't finished reading it.
