Retribution and Armageddon by Max Hastings

I just finished reading Retribution by Max Hastings, his treatment of the final year of the war against Japan, and just prior to that read Armageddon, his treatment of that same period in regards to the war against Germany. Both are simply excellent. And not only are they excellent, but very fresh. Highly recommended.

Both include, I'd note, a fair amount of references to horse use by Germany and Japan, as well as the Soviet Union.
